Schematic of the evolution regimen for the experimental lineages of Neurospora.
Founding populations were composed of 50 progeny (25 of each mating type) from one of
two parental crosses. Lineages were exposed to one of two selective environments (grey
background) during asexual propagation, which is indicated by solid lines. Diamonds
indicate sexual cycles in which intra-lineage recombination occurred.
