    Bravo to Borlaug for calling this to everyone’s attention. It’s really too bad that funding for Ug99 research is being cut just when we most need it. I’d personally like to see some transgenic wheat employing RNAi to deactivate the fungus.

    PS: While I work on plants currently, I think fungi are fascinating and full of potential 🙂

  2. Anastasia; just how are the farmers who actually eat the wheat they grow, the ones currently threatened by UG99 in Pakistan, supposed to afford your transgenic wheat? And how fast can you keep up with the evolution of the fungus?
